Optional Hobby

Artist

Artists use creativity to shape Aldoria’s visual identity through paintings, signs, decorations, designs and commissioned works for individuals, businesses and settlements.

Role in the Realm

Artists are responsible for much of the visual identity and interior design found throughout Aldoria.

Rather than constructing buildings themselves, Artists take completed homes, shops, castles, taverns and settlements and turn them into visually distinctive spaces.

They may be hired to decorate the interior of another player's base, choose colour schemes, arrange furniture, design themed rooms and create decorative spaces suited to a character's race, profession, faction or personality.

Artists may also specialise in painting, signs, banners, dyes and other decorative work.

Artists may focus on:

  • Interior design
  • Decorating player bases
  • Tavern and shop interiors
  • Castle and throne-room decoration
  • Furniture placement and room layouts
  • Creating colour schemes
  • Dye preparation and colour matching
  • Painting structures and equipment
  • Decorative signs
  • Paintings and artwork
  • Banner and heraldic design
  • Faction colour schemes
  • Wedding and event decoration
  • Market stall presentation

For example, a Builder might construct a medieval tavern, while an Artist is hired afterwards to decorate the inside, choose the colours, position furniture and give the establishment its final appearance.

Artists do not replace Builders. Builders create the structure; Artists create its visual identity.

Choosing a Hobby

A character may choose one Main Profession and one Hobby. Hobbies provide additional roleplay and character flavour and do not share the same progression benefits as Main Professions unless specifically stated.
