Role in the Realm

Diplomats specialise in negotiation and relations between Aldoria's settlements, factions, guilds and leaders.

They may represent a ruler or community during important meetings, deliver formal proposals and help resolve disagreements without immediately resorting to conflict.

Diplomats can become especially important once multiple player settlements begin developing alliances, rivalries and territorial interests.

Diplomats may focus on:

  • Representing settlements or factions
  • Negotiating agreements
  • Peace negotiations
  • Trade agreements
  • Non-aggression pacts
  • Alliances
  • Border discussions
  • Resource agreements
  • Mediating disputes
  • Delivering official messages
  • Organising political meetings
  • Hosting diplomatic summits
  • Drafting treaties
  • Acting as an envoy for rulers

A Diplomat cannot force another faction to accept an agreement. Treaties and agreements must be voluntarily accepted by the relevant parties.

Diplomats also do not automatically hold political authority. Their authority comes from whoever has appointed them to represent a settlement, faction or leader.

Choosing a Hobby

A character may choose one Main Profession and one Hobby. Hobbies provide additional roleplay and character flavour and do not share the same progression benefits as Main Professions unless specifically stated.
