Untamed forest spirits unbound by courts, dwelling in deep brambles, enchanted springs, and forgotten groves.
Wild Fae are the least settled and most unpredictable of the Fae bloodlines. They live far from conventional civilisation and often resemble the wilderness around them more strongly than their Seelie or Unseelie relatives. Wild Fae communities place little importance on kingdoms, borders or wealth, instead following the rhythms of animals, seasons and migration.
Wild Fae vary dramatically in appearance. Antlers, unusual horns, animal-like ears, bark-like markings, feathers, vines and patches of natural colouration are all possible. Their skin may range from ordinary human-like tones to earthy greens, browns or pale woodland shades. Wings vary greatly and may resemble insects, leaves or even unusual natural structures.
Wild Fae are often instinctive, independent and difficult for outsiders to understand. Some are playful and curious while others are fiercely territorial. They value freedom highly and dislike being ordered around. Friendship is normally earned through actions rather than words or status.
Many Wild Fae live as hunters, gatherers and travellers rather than permanent settlers. Groups may follow animal herds, seasonal food sources or ancient migration routes. They make extensive use of plants, hides, bones and natural materials and rarely waste anything they take from the wilderness.
Their traditions are heavily connected to animals, weather, seasons and the landscape. Coming-of-age rituals may involve surviving alone, tracking a difficult beast or travelling to a sacred location. Tattoos, feathers, antlers, teeth and carved tokens often represent achievements or important experiences.
Some Wild Fae have no permanent settlements at all. Those that do may inhabit tree canopies, caves, cliff ledges or small hidden camps that can be abandoned quickly. Their homes are usually built from local materials and designed to blend into the surrounding wilderness.
Beast Master, Breeder, Farmer, Alchemist and wilderness-oriented roles are particularly common. Hunters, scouts, herbalists and animal handlers fit Wild Fae culture naturally.
Wild Fae generally get along well with Fawns, Wood Elves and other communities that respect wilderness. They can be suspicious of Dwarven mining, Human expansion or Orc warbands when these threaten their territory. They may consider Seelie and Unseelie Fae overly concerned with rules, courts and old rivalries.
