Overview

Stone Giants are ancient-looking Giant communities that inhabit rocky highlands, caves, canyons and regions dominated by bare stone. They are renowned for patience, strength and a remarkable understanding of stonework and natural formations.

Appearance

Stone Giants commonly possess grey, slate, granite-like or muted brown skin tones, sometimes with natural markings that resemble cracks, veins or stone patterns. Hair tends to be black, grey or white. Their clothing uses heavy leather, rough woven cloth and carved stone ornaments rather than bright decoration.

Personality

Stone Giants are generally quiet, thoughtful and difficult to provoke. They often prefer observation to conversation and may seem distant to outsiders. Once they form a bond, however, they can be extremely dependable and protective.

How They Live

Quarrying, stone carving, building, hunting and livestock keeping are common. Stone Giants often shape existing rock formations rather than constructing entirely new settlements. They are skilled at reading cliffs, caves and fault lines and can recognise unstable terrain quickly.

Culture & Traditions

Stone carving is central to their culture. Important events, ancestors and agreements may be recorded through carved symbols, standing stones and monuments. They believe that stone endures longer than memory and therefore use it to preserve history.

Settlements

Settlements are commonly carved into cliffs, caves and natural stone terraces. Massive pillars, carved steps and open gathering areas are common. Their architecture tends to feel ancient and monumental even when settlements are relatively small.

Common Roles / Professions (Optional)

Armorsmith, Weaponsmith, Beast Master and building-oriented roles suit Stone Giants well. Quarry workers, stone carvers, guards and hunters are also common.

Relationships With Other Races

Stone Giants often respect Dwarves for their masonry and Mountain Fawns for their ability to travel difficult terrain. Trolls may be tolerated if they remain outside important quarry or settlement areas. Humans and Halflings are usually treated neutrally unless they disturb sacred stone sites.
