Cityborn

Humans raised within Aldoria’s larger towns and cities, shaped by guilds, markets and many cultures living side by side.

Overview

Cityborn are Humans descended from people accustomed to dense towns, organised markets and heavily populated settlements. Although Aldoria currently has no true cities, Cityborn survivors preserve habits and knowledge from a more urban way of life and often dream of rebuilding something similar.

Appearance

Cityborn have no particular physical characteristics. Their clothing varies widely depending on occupation, though merchants, craftsmen and officials often place more emphasis on presentation than rural communities. Belts, coats, jewellery, guild-like symbols and practical urban clothing are common influences.

Personality

Cityborn are often socially adaptable, ambitious and comfortable dealing with many different personalities. They tend to understand negotiation, organisation and trade particularly well. Some can become impatient with isolated communities that rely heavily on old customs rather than written agreements or clear rules.

How They Live

Because Aldoria has not yet developed true cities, Cityborn commonly settle within the largest surviving camps and emerging villages. They are often among the first to establish markets, workshops, storage systems and organised forms of trade.

Culture & Traditions

Craftsmanship, commerce and reputation hold great importance. Cityborn families may remember traditions of guilds, districts and busy markets even if the actual names of their old homes have disappeared from memory. Written records are often valued because they provide stability in a world where so much history has been lost.

Settlements

Cityborn naturally favour growing population centres. As villages expand, they are likely to concentrate around marketplaces, workshops and administrative areas, helping settlements become more organised.

Common Roles / Professions (Optional)

Armorsmith, Weaponsmith, Saddlesmith, Alchemist and merchant-style characters fit Cityborn culture particularly well. Craftsmen, traders, guards, scribes and organisers are common.

Relationships With Other Races

Cityborn are generally accustomed to cultural diversity and often see other races as potential neighbours, customers or partners rather than strangers. Dwarves, Goblins and Halflings are frequent trading partners, while Tieflings and Elves may find growing Human settlements attractive places to practise specialised crafts.
