Overview
Wanderer Halflings are travellers, merchants and explorers who rarely remain in one place for long. They follow roads, rivers and trade routes across Aldoria, carrying news, unusual goods and stories between distant settlements. Many grow up among caravans rather than permanent villages.
Appearance
Wanderer Halflings wear durable travelling clothes designed for changing weather and long journeys. Cloaks, leather satchels, belts, pouches and sturdy walking staffs are common. Their clothing is often patched and personalised with souvenirs collected along the road, including coins, ribbons, feathers and small charms.
Personality
Wanderer Halflings tend to be curious, adaptable and socially confident. They are often comfortable speaking with strangers and have a talent for finding common ground between very different people. Many develop a strong dislike of being confined or told where they must live.
How They Live
Trade, guiding, transporting goods, storytelling and temporary labour support most Wanderer groups. Caravans may travel between major settlements on seasonal routes, stopping to trade or work before moving on. They are skilled at maintaining supplies, animals and equipment while travelling.
Culture & Traditions
Stories and keepsakes are extremely important. Many Wanderer Halflings carry small objects from significant journeys or friendships. Returning to a familiar settlement after a long absence is often celebrated with shared food, stories and the exchange of news.
Settlements
Wanderers usually favour temporary camps, roadside stopping places and caravan grounds rather than permanent towns. Some maintain small seasonal settlements that are occupied only during certain parts of the year. Larger trade routes may have Halfling-run inns or safe camps at regular intervals.
Common Roles / Professions (Optional)
Beast Master, Breeder, Alchemist, trader and caravan-oriented roles fit Wanderer Halflings well. Guides, messengers, merchants, animal handlers and travelling craftsmen are also common.
Relationships With Other Races
Wanderer Halflings interact with nearly every race in Aldoria and are often less suspicious of outsiders than more isolated communities. Goblins make lively trading partners, Dwarves value reliable merchants, and Humans commonly use Halfling caravans to move goods and information between settlements.
