Overview

Wild Halflings are small, independent communities that live beyond the roads and settled farmland of their Hearth relatives. They inhabit forests, marshes and remote valleys, relying on hunting, gathering and detailed knowledge of the wilderness to survive.

Appearance

Wild Halflings generally wear simple, rugged clothing made from leather, hide, woven fibres and scavenged materials. Their colours tend toward greens, browns and greys. Feathers, animal teeth, carved wood and small bone ornaments are commonly worn. Their clothing is designed for movement rather than appearance.

Personality

Wild Halflings are often cautious, independent and observant. They are less immediately trusting than Hearth or Wanderer Halflings, but can become deeply loyal to those who respect their communities. Many are surprisingly fearless when protecting their homes.

How They Live

Hunting, gathering, fishing, trapping and herbalism form the foundation of Wild Halfling life. Families often move between several small camps depending on weather and local resources. Children learn tracking, plant identification and survival skills from a young age.

Culture & Traditions

Wild Halflings place strong importance on practical skill and knowledge of the land. Successful hunters and skilled herbalists are highly respected. Important events may be remembered through carved tokens, animal symbols or stories shared around communal fires.

Settlements

Settlements are usually small, hidden and easy to abandon if necessary. Forest clearings, riverbanks, caves and ruined structures may all become temporary homes. Structures are built using local timber, stone and hides and are designed to blend into the surrounding landscape.

Common Roles / Professions (Optional)

Beast Master, Breeder, Farmer and Alchemist are especially suitable. Hunters, herbalists, scouts and trappers are also common.

Relationships With Other Races

Wild Halflings often get along well with Wood Elves, Fawns and Wild Fae due to their shared understanding of wilderness life. Goblins can be either trading partners or troublesome neighbours depending on territory. Larger settlements are usually approached cautiously until their intentions are understood.
