Overview
Cave Trolls are subterranean Troll communities that live in deep caverns, abandoned mines and enormous underground chambers. They are generally more isolated than other Troll bloodlines and have developed strong instincts for survival in darkness.
Appearance
Cave Trolls commonly have pale grey, chalky white, muted blue or almost colourless skin. Their eyes are often larger and more sensitive to light, while hair tends to be sparse, dark or pale. Their bodies are thick, hunched and powerful, with long arms and oversized hands suited to climbing through caves and narrow passages.
Personality
Cave Trolls are usually quiet, suspicious and cautious around strangers. They prefer familiar territory and rarely trust outsiders quickly. Many are highly observant and possess excellent memories for tunnels, sounds and scents.
How They Live
Cave Trolls survive through hunting underground creatures, fungi gathering, scavenging, fishing in underground waters and keeping hardy animals. They are skilled at finding hidden chambers, water sources and safe routes through unstable cave systems.
Culture & Traditions
Echoes, cave markings and carved stones play an important role in their traditions. Important routes and dangers are marked with simple symbols known only to local communities. Family histories are often told through stories connected to specific caverns and landmarks.
Settlements
Cave Troll settlements are built in large chambers, ruined underground halls and hidden cave networks. Heavy stone barriers, narrow entrances and elevated ledges provide natural defence. Light is kept low and used carefully.
Common Roles / Professions (Optional)
Beast Master, Weaponsmith, Armorsmith and Alchemist are common choices. Hunters, scavengers, tunnel guides and guards are also important.
Relationships With Other Races
Cave Trolls frequently encounter Deep Dwarves, Dark Elves and Cave Goblins underground. These relationships can range from trade to bitter rivalry over territory. Surface races are often treated cautiously due to their unfamiliar customs and bright settlements.
