Overview
Mountain Trolls are the largest and most physically imposing Troll bloodline in Aldoria. They inhabit harsh mountain valleys, rocky ravines and high cave systems where few other races can survive comfortably. Their size and appearance often make them seem dangerous, but many Mountain Troll communities are highly territorial rather than needlessly aggressive.
Appearance
Mountain Trolls commonly have blue-grey, slate, stone-grey or pale mottled skin. Their bodies are huge, heavily muscled and often covered with rough, warty textures, scars, moss or lichen. Broad noses, heavy brows, large hands and long arms are common. Their clothing is usually made from thick hides, fur, rope, bone and rough leather.
Personality
Mountain Trolls tend to be slow to trust, blunt and fiercely protective of their territory. They are usually patient until provoked, after which their anger can be difficult to stop. Many value simple honesty and dislike complicated politics or deception.
How They Live
Hunting, scavenging, livestock keeping and gathering support most Mountain Troll communities. They are skilled at navigating steep cliffs, caves and broken terrain. Some groups move seasonally between high and low valleys depending on food and weather.
Culture & Traditions
Strength and survival are respected, but physical power alone does not determine status. Elders who know safe routes, food sources and old territories are highly valued. Bones, teeth, stones and trophies from important hunts are commonly worn or displayed.
Settlements
Mountain Troll settlements are usually built around caves, cliff ledges and rocky valleys. Structures are crude but strong, made from large timber, stone, hides and rope. Watch points and narrow entrances make many settlements difficult to attack.
Common Roles / Professions (Optional)
Beast Master, Breeder, Weaponsmith and Armorsmith fit Mountain Troll culture well. Hunters, guards, labourers and animal handlers are also common.
Relationships With Other Races
Mountain Trolls often clash with Dwarves, Giants and Mountain Fawns over caves, hunting grounds and mountain routes. They may respect individuals who prove their strength or reliability. Smaller races are often treated with curiosity rather than immediate hostility.
