Dwarves

Overview

Dwarves are a hardy and resilient race famed for their mastery of stonework, metalcraft, and warfare. Living within vast underground kingdoms carved deep into mountains, dwarves have built powerful civilizations sustained by mining, smithing, and centuries of tradition. They are renowned as exceptional blacksmiths, engineers, jewelers, and warriors, creating weapons and structures meant to endure for generations.

Honor, loyalty, and family are at the heart of dwarven culture. Clan ties run deep, and a dwarf’s word is considered a sacred bond. Their halls are filled with ancestral stories, roaring forges, and great feasting chambers where music, ale, and celebration echo through the stone. Though often serious and stern to outsiders, dwarves value camaraderie and possess a fierce protective instinct toward those they trust.

In battle, dwarves are disciplined and unyielding fighters, capable of enduring hardships that would break many other races. Their resilience and determination make them formidable defenders of their homes and people.

Appearance

Dwarves are short, broad and powerfully built. Braids, facial hair, durable clothing and heavy, well-made armour are culturally important; their bodies suit mining and craftsmanship.

Limitations

Stubbornness:
Dwarves can be slow to abandon established methods.

Shorter Reach:
Their stature gives less reach.

Heavy Build:
They are durable but less agile.

Long Memories:
Betrayals may be remembered for generations.

Maturity & Lifespan

Maturity Age: Around 40 years old.

Lifespan: Dwarves are long-lived, commonly reaching 350 years of age, with some surviving beyond 400 years through strong lineage and exceptional endurance.

Traits & Culture

Craftsmanship is central to Dwarven identity. Mining, smithing, masonry and engineering are respected; family, clan, reputation, durable settlements and inherited objects matter greatly.
